K-pop strategy with an industry-wide view.
Jason Yu is a K-pop strategist, creative producer, educator, and founder of Popsori. His work connects media, audience insight, brand strategy, and real-world execution.
A cross-functional career
One career.
Multiple sides of the industry.
Jason began his career in software engineering before moving to South Korea in 2010, where he would live and work for the next 12 years. While teaching at Konkuk University and Sogang University, he built a second career in journalism and Korean media—eventually working as a reporter, editor, and team leader for organizations including Yonhap News, The Korea Times, the South China Morning Post, and Korean Air’s MorningCalm magazine.
He later moved from covering the Korean entertainment industry to working within it. His roles expanded into data analysis, brand marketing, creative production, artist relations, and tour management, including behind-the-scenes work with major K-pop companies such as JYP Entertainment and HYBE. After returning to the United States, his experience also crossed gaming and technology through Google Stadia and Meta’s Short Form Serials team.
Today, that combination of editorial, analytical, creative, and operational experience gives Jason a broad view of how entertainment companies, artists, media teams, partners, and audiences interact. Through Popsori, he turns that perspective into content, education, advisory work, and live-event execution.
