With Amber’s upcoming tour, she’s poised to show us her latest image of going rogue. Being a bit more free. Being uncensored.
Called the Amber Liu Gone Rogue Tour, she’ll be visiting six cities in the US and Canada alongside Justin Park. The tour starts on December 5th in Chicago and ends on December 14th in San Francisco.
Known to be one of the members in the K-pop group f(x), Amber has been doing solo activities since 2015. Ever since going solo, she’s been experimenting and mixing up her musical style. Her Rogue Rogue mixtape back in April had an unfiltered element to it.
One of the big reasons for this free mixtape is to give back to her loyal fans that supported her through the years. To have as many people experience her new rogue side, she released her six tracks for free, while also releasing her MVs without ads on her YouTube. Her fans gave her a lot of praise for giving back, as she’s one of the most popular international K-pop stars today.
Amber has been in the K-pop scene for nearly 10 years, experiencing the highs and lows in the industry. As a 15 year old from Los Angeles, she entered SM’s Global Audition 2008. She made the cut and moved to Seoul to train as a K-pop star.
During her time in f(x), she quickly became a favorite for many foreigners for her funny, rebellious side, and relatable side. She was different and a breath of fresh air in the K-pop industry.
Since she knew both the Korean and English language and culture (as well as Chinese) she represented a bridge between Korea and international fans. To many overseas fans, her image is of a K-pop star that would stand her ground, wouldn’t be boxed into a stereotypical idol image, and say what’s on her mind. This would be apparent when dealing with haters and trolls on her YouTube channel, where she’d either mock them with sarcasm or flat out ignore them.
Speaking of her YouTube, she branched out to the video platform in recent years. For her, the channel is more of a creative, fun channel rather than just a place for her solo, musical activities. The channel quickly became popular and gave a raw look into the f(x) star, giving her another outlet to connect to her fans.
Now under Steel Wool Entertainment for her US concerts, Amber aims to connect with her North American fans even further. After seeing where she’s at in life and her new, free, musical style, her latest concert tour is aptly named: Going Rogue.
